Telmaro Notebook
Editorial Standards

METHODOLOGY.

A transparent account of how Telmaro Notebook sources, verifies, writes, edits, and publishes content on food, weight, and long-term eating patterns.

01
Founding Principles

What guides editorial decisions

Telmaro Notebook operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

The publication does not accept commercial content of any kind. There are no sponsored articles, no affiliate links, and no placement arrangements with food companies, supplement producers, or weight-management services. Every piece of content is initiated and controlled editorially.

Telmaro Notebook is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

Independence from commercial interests

No sponsored content, affiliate arrangements, or editorial influence from outside parties.

Acknowledgement of research uncertainty

Writers note where evidence is contested, preliminary, or limited in scope.

Public correction policy

Factual errors are acknowledged and corrected with a visible note on the affected article.

Writer disclosure requirements

All contributors disclose relationships that could influence their subject selection before publication.

Dual editorial review

Every article is reviewed by a second editor for factual accuracy before publication.

02
Publication Process

How an article moves from idea to publication

STEP — 01
Pitch and Research Brief

A writer submits a topic proposal with a short account of the research they intend to draw on. The editorial team assesses whether the subject falls within the publication's scope, whether credible published nutritional research exists on the topic, and whether the angle is editorially distinct from existing coverage.

STEP — 02
Source Identification

The writer identifies primary sources — peer-reviewed published nutritional research, epidemiological studies, or systematic reviews — before drafting begins. Sources from advocacy organisations or commercial producers are excluded unless independently corroborated by published research.

STEP — 03
Draft Writing

Writers produce a full draft citing sources inline. The draft is written in an editorial register: long-form, observed, and specific. The draft must distinguish between findings that are well-established in the research literature and those that are preliminary, contested, or limited to specific populations.

STEP — 04
Editorial Review

A second editor reads the full draft and checks each factual claim against its cited source. The review assesses accuracy, tone, scope, and whether the draft has overstated or understated the evidence. Comments are returned to the writer for revision before a second read.

STEP — 05
Final Approval

The revised article is read by the editor-in-charge, who confirms that the scope remains within the publication's subject areas, that no stop-list vocabulary has been introduced, and that the article is consistent with the publication's editorial standards. Publication approval is granted at this stage.

STEP — 06
Post-Publication Monitoring

Published articles are monitored for reader corrections and queries. If a factual error is identified after publication, a correction note is appended to the article. The nature and date of the correction are recorded. Articles are not silently altered; all changes after publication are visible to readers.

03
Source Standards

What qualifies as an acceptable source

Accepted source types
  • Peer-reviewed articles in established nutritional science or epidemiology journals
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses published in indexed academic journals
  • Publicly available national dietary surveys (e.g. NDNS England) and population cohort studies
  • Publicly available guidance documents from established nutritional advisory bodies
Excluded source types
  • Commercial white papers or industry-funded studies without independent corroboration
  • Non-peer-reviewed preprints as the sole basis for a factual claim
  • Testimonials, case studies, or anecdotal accounts presented as research evidence
  • Content produced by advocacy organisations with a stated commercial or ideological position

SOURCE REVIEW — EDITORIAL DESK, EC1R

Content published by Telmaro Notebook is selected based on published nutritional research. Each piece is reviewed independently for accuracy and source quality. Writers are asked to provide source citations before the editorial review process begins, not after.

04
Corrections and Updates

How factual errors are handled

Telmaro Notebook maintains a transparent correction policy. If a reader identifies a factual error — whether a misrepresentation of a cited source, an incorrect figure, or an outdated statement of research findings — the editorial team will investigate and, if confirmed, make a public correction.

Corrections are appended to the affected article with the date on which they were made. The original incorrect text is not removed; both the error and the correction are visible. The correction is written in a factual register, identifying precisely what changed and why.

For updates — where new published research changes the state of evidence on a topic covered by an existing article — a separate update note is added below the original text. The article is not silently rewritten. The update note includes the date and a brief account of what the new research indicates.

Submit a correction

Readers who believe they have identified a factual error in a published article are encouraged to contact the editorial team via the contact page, selecting "Factual correction or query" as the subject. Please include the article title, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and, if possible, the source you believe should have been used.

Commercial relationships and editorial autonomy

Telmaro Notebook does not accept financial support from food companies, supplement manufacturers, weight-management service providers, or any other commercial entity with an interest in how food and weight are discussed in public. The publication operates solely from reader support and is not funded by advertising or placement.

No writer employed by or contracting to Telmaro Notebook holds a paid position, directorship, or advisory role with a commercial entity whose interests overlap with the subject matter of their articles, without disclosure. Disclosure is mandatory and posted alongside the relevant article.

The editorial decisions — which topics to cover, how to frame them, which sources to rely on, and what conclusions are supportable by the evidence — are made exclusively by the editorial team. No external party, including funders, institutional associates, or research bodies, holds influence over these decisions.
